PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Presque Isle Elks Lodge 1954 will welcome the community from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, at Riverside Park for their annual Independence Day celebration.
Exalted Ruler Alan Harding said the Elks will be grilling hot dogs, which they will serve free of charge to the public. There will also be a variety of chips, popcorn, drinks, watermelon and shaved ice, all free of charge.
“Families should plan to celebrate part of July 4th this year at Riverside Park in Presque Isle,” Harding said. “The brand-new splash pad of the City of Presque Isle will be in operation at the south end of the park.”
Local musicians will offer a variety of live country, pop and rock music, including Wendell Hudson, Guy Cloney, Andy Rebscher, James “Sheldon” Wright and several others.
The Elks’ annual July 4th car show will occupy Riverside Drive, which will be closed to traffic for this event. Car enthusiasts throughout Aroostook and western New Brunswick have come to look forward to this holiday auto and truck show. Registration will start at 10 a.m. and is entirely free. Trophies will be awarded for the top vehicle in each class, as well as for the People’s Choice Award and Best in the Show.
There will be free games and contests for young children, as well as a bounce house and an opportunity for everyone to relax in the park while catching up with neighbors and friends.
“As with every prior July 4th community celebration, there will be something for everyone to enjoy while celebrating everything which makes this country the best place on earth in which to live,” Harding concluded.
