PRESQUE ISLE — Hours at the Mark & Emily Turner Memorial Library on Second Street have been changed, following City Council’s recent approval of the 2013 municipal budget which included cutting one part-time and one full-time position, in addition to new hours of operation.
“Hours are changing at the Mark & Emily Turner Memorial Library to include being open later on Wednesdays,” said Librarian Sonja Plummer-Morgan.
A study determined longer hours on Wednesday would better serve patrons. The facility’s hours have been adjusted elsewhere during the remainder of the week also, to better serve the public and reduce energy use, including heat and lights.
“Our new hours will be Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. We will be closed on Sunday,” said Plummer-Morgan. “That’s 53.5 hours each week to visit us.”
The new hours took effect December 17.
