HOULTON, Maine — This year’s annual Houlton Agricultural Fair drew a record number of exhibitors participating in photography, art, crafts and food dishes.
According to Jody Wellington, director for the exhibit hall, a record 82 exhibitors participated in this year’s fair, bringing in items such as jams, pickles, quilts, photos, artwork, flowers and even Lego creations.
Winners for the cooking contests were as follows:
Best Strawberry Dish — 1, Lydia Byron, strawberry chocolate truffle; 2, Becky MacIlroy; and 3, Brooklyn Brown. State of Maine Apple Pie — 1, Becky MacIlroy; 2, Lydia Byron; 3, Brooklyn Brown. Red, White and Blue Dish — 1, Becky MacIlroy; 2, Damon Haynes; and 3, Jazmine Jones. Favorite Pizza — 1, Becky MacIlroy.
Chopped Junior (baskets had chicken thighs, pork rinds, olives, tomato juice and tropical fruit cocktail) — 1, Amelia Callnan; 2, Olivia Cyr; and 3, Oliver Cranston. Kid’s Cookie Contest — 1, Taylor London; 2, Addie Harris; 3, Lily Harris; Kid’s 12 and under Cupcakes — 1, Allyson Bolstridge; 2, Ava Wells; 3, Elwira Wenaloski.
