PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A Wolverton family reunion was held on June 29 at Arndt’s Aroostook River Lodge in Presque Isle.
More than 40 people attended, some coming from as far away as Arizona, to reminisce with relatives and meet new additions to the family.
Norman Wolverton, who now lives in Toronto, Canada, hosted the event with his wife, Kathy. Attendees included his brother Barry Wolverton, who still resides in Easton, where the family is from. The brother’s grandparents farmed in River de Chute, and their parents raised them in Easton on the Richardson Road.
The children and grandchildren of both Norman and Barry came to the reunion. Descendants of their sister, the late Nancy Tracy, were also in attendance. Nancy’s daughter, Margo Conley of Washburn, helped organize the reunion and led the games that children and adults enjoyed. The sack races were particularly fun for participants and spectators.
Cousins of the Wolverton brothers and family friends also stopped in to join the fun. In addition to games, there was swimming, a barbecue, a huge cake, and storytelling of times gone by.
