DANFORTH, Maine — The town of Danforth celebrates all things summer this weekend, with its annual Summerfest.
“This year’s summerfest theme is good old-fashioned fun in the sun,” said Town Manager Ardis Brown. “Come on downtown and enjoy the events and be sure to bring your sunglasses.”
The events kick off Thursday with a special appearance by the Zerbini Family Circus at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, at the athletic field of East Grand School.
On Friday, events begin at 4 p.m. with a doll and teddy bear clinic and corn hole tournament. A lobster feast follows at 4:30 p.m. and the Jacob Smalley Band performs at 6 p.m. A “Mr. North Country” adult-themed pageant takes place at the town hall starting at 8:30 p.m.
Some of Saturday’s events include a craft fair at 9 a.m.; large townwide parade at 10 a.m.; children’s games at 11 a.m.; a chicken barbecue at the Danforth Fire Station at noon; a horseshoe tournament at 2 p.m.; auction to benefit the Rex L. McKenney Post 45 American Legion Honor Roll at 3 p.m.; a bean supper at the legion at 5 p.m.; Rock Revelation concert at 7 p.m.; and fireworks at 9:15 p.m.
Sunday’s activities include a color run at 9 a.m.; ATV poker run at 10 a.m.; and a luncheon at noon at Greenland Cove Landing.
