Edna Sherburne celebrated her 95th birthday on Jan. 4. She lives with her son and daughter-in-law Raymond and Elaine Sherburne in Washburn.
She had a special visit from her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Kevin Belisle of Vermont for a week prior to her birthday. They celebrated her birthday on Monday night along with her granddaughter and her husband, Christine and Ward Turner, and their children Brianna and Mitchell.
On Friday, Jan. 4, she celebrated again with her son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Elaine, granddaughter and her husband, Christine and Ward Turner, and their children, along with friends Raymond and Ardis Humphrey. Ardis made her a birthday cake and a custard pie.
She also received a special visit from her senior companion, Isabel. Edna received many gifts, cards and telephone calls including a call from her nephew Dennis Willmore in England and brother Kenneth and Iris Smith, also from England, a call and flowers from niece Pam and Jim Alston from Texas, a call and money from friends Alice and Henry Barstow of Bristol, a call and flowers from daughter Pat Cordway of New Hampshire, and flowers from her grandson Jeff and Kathy Provencher and their children Jose and little Sandy of Florida.

Did you get some new gadgets for Christmas? If so, gather together your old cell phones and cartridges and bring them to the Washburn High School basketball games during the next couple of weeks. There will be a clearly-marked box near the door for you to deposit your items. All of the money we raise will be used for books and e-books in our high school library. Thank you for your help.
