Return of the gun
To the editor:
Is America on the verge of returning to the days of the Old West? When everyone was allowed to carry a handgun.
I listen to television and the people giving their views on gun control and it sends chills up my spine. Arming all school teachers, putting security guards in our schools, allowing all college students to carry a handgun, arming all the employers who work in our stores, etc.
Are these people out of their mind? Don’t they realize this would increase the number of guns out in the public domain by the millions? In a short time, everyone in America, young and old, would be carrying a gun.
If you add all these guns into our society, coupled to the number of people using alcohol and drugs, can you imagine what a catastrophic situation it would create?
We have a government out of control and a society of people out of control and that is courting disaster.
I have written many letters over the past 40 years how America is on a pathway of self-destruction; and this is just another step toward that end.
