Looking for community input
To the editor:
What do women and girls in our community need?
The Maine Women’s Fund is conducting a statewide needs assessment this winter to inform its grantmaking. We need your input to ensure that Aroostook County is well-represented! We are engaging community members who are interested and involved in the issues that the Maine Women’s Fund seeks to address through grantmaking.
Economic security is the priority of the Fund’s mission. We know that when women and girls thrive, communities prosper. We also know that women and girls have a better chance of thriving when they have access to education, healthcare benefits, training, employment and leadership opportunities that enable them to be financially secure.
We would love to have your participation to help us provide an “on the ground” perspective of what challenges women and girls face in our state when it comes to economic security.
Please join us, and feel free to bring your own brown bag meal on Tuesday, Feb. 26th from 4:- 6 p.m. at the offices of ACAP, 771 Main Street, Presque Isle (in same area as Walmart and Tim Hortons).
Volunteer groups in seven regions of the state are meeting to review data provided by the Fund on various issues affecting women and girls. Our goal is to articulate back to the Fund what we see as priority issues of need for women and girls in our region.
Please RSVP by Feb. 25th by e-mail to katimensfund.org or by phone at 774-5513. Thank you in advance, and we hope to see you on the 26th to begin this important work for Maine women and girls.
