OAKFIELD, Maine — The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office said Sept. 21 that three juveniles were charged in connection with a multi-town vandalism spree that occurred two weeks ago.
Aroostook County Sheriff Shawn Gillen said that the incident took place on Sept. 3 after his office received a report of several mailboxes that had been smashed overnight. Some of the mailboxes appeared to have been battered with baseball bats or other battering instruments.
The sheriff said that Deputy Ryan Johnston and Sheriff’s Deputy Richard York immediately began looking into the matter and soon identified the three juveniles involved in smashing mailboxes in Oakfield, Dyer Brook, and Merrill. The minors, who were not identified due to their ages, were each charged with six counts of criminal mischief.
