Easton PTO off to strong start

The Easton PTO is off to a good start for the 2019/2020 school calendar year.  They are always looking for new members.  The group meets the first Tuesday of every month in the Easton Elementary School  Library at 6 p.m.  Child care is provided.

Upcoming activities include the Harvest Party and the annual fall Book fair; dates and times will be announced at a later date.

There is a new way to participate in the “Boxtops for Education.”  Simply sign up online under Easton’s school and scan grocery receipts.  The school will be automatically credited — no more cutting out and sending in to the school.

For those who currently have box tops on products in your cupboards, please take a minute to cut them out and send them to school with your child, or drop them off at the school office.  The school earns cash for every box top sent in, and the funds help sponsor field trips, buy special things for the classrooms and fulfill teacher requests.

Updating veterans

The Easton School Department wants to update their store of veterans’ names and addresses for their upcoming Veteran’s Day program.

The program’s date and time are yet to be determined, but details will be posted soon.

If you are an Easton veteran and have not attended an Easton School Veteran’s Day program, or if you have changed your address, please call the school office at 488-7701 and leave your name and address or email your information to jill.barnes@eastonschools.org.

Alumni need you

Is there anyone out there who is interested in, or looking forward to, the 2020 all-school reunion?  If you would like this to happen, the alumni organization needs your help.

There is a very limited crew who love our school and are working hard to make it happen, but we need you. There will be an informational meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 6 p.m. at the Easton Junior/Senior High School Library.  If you are interested in being involved in any way, please join us.

This isn’t a commitment in any way, just come and find out what is being planned and all the areas we need help in.  We could use your fresh ideas and input and look forward to seeing you there.

If you have any questions, email Peggy at arnett_peggy@yahoo.com or call 488-6904.

Town cleanup day

The Town of Easton will hold a cleanup day on Saturday, Oct. 26.

The town garage on the Fry Pan Road will be the collection point for household junk, such as appliances, tires, furniture, wood, etc. Wood products must be separated. No household garbage or used oil will be accepted, and no commercial loads are allowed.

There will also be a collection point next to the recycling igloos behind the town office to dispose of electronics such as televisions, computers, monitors, printers, fluorescent bulbs, circuit boards, cell phones, fax machines, scanners, laptops, DVD/VCR players, batteries and copiers.

All recyclables must be deposited in the igloos behind the town office. Collection is for Easton residents only. Coordinate your fall cleaning with the Town Clean Up Day and make use of our efforts to make Easton a more beautiful place to live.

Call 488-6652 with any questions.

Christmas Craft Fair

Easton’s Annual Craft Fair will take place Dec 7, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Spaces are $25 apiece. These are 10-by-10 spots. Email crazycountygirl96@gmail.com or call Melissa at 207-227-4093. The money for spots goes to the Paige Aerin Lento Memorial Scholarship.
