PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Northern Light AR Gould Hospital will hold their annual Fall Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Presque Isle Inn and Convention Center.
The event, will feature a wide offering of screenings and information to help people take charge of their health.
“Educating people about their health is a priority for us, and the Health Fair allows us to provide easy access to a wide range of valuable information and free screenings that will help people be more aware of their own health,” says Greg LaFrancois, hospital president. “Providers from a number of our practices will also be there to answer questions one-on-one.”
Free adult flu shots, including high-dose ones for adults age 65 or older, will be offered at the fair. Other free screenings and assessments will include cholesterol, blood pressure, BMI/weight, stroke risk, diabetes risk, lymphedema and more. Other featured resources will include how to create an advance directive and how to track your family medical history.
In addition to booths from various practices and departments within AR Gould Hospital, there will be booths on various health topics from Northern Maine Community College senior nursing students. A number of non-profit organizations will also be taking part to share information about resources to help people in our community. People are also encouraged to bring their outdated medication with them, as the Presque Isle Police Department will be holding a Drug Take Back at the Health Fair.
Free, fun activities for both adults and children will include various games, a photo booth, a prize wheel, free popcorn, door prize drawings and more.
