CARIBOU, Maine — For nearly half a century, the Caribou Arts & Crafts Fair has brought vendors from all across the region together to sell handmade creations and many other products.
So far, 115 vendors are signed up for the event, and while the city is at capacity, Caribou Marketing and Events Coordinator Christina Kane-Gibson said people are welcome to contact the city and sign up for the waiting list in the event that some vendors are unable to attend.
The Arts & Crafts fair will take place in the gym and cafeteria of Caribou High School, on 308 Sweden St., on Oct. 19 and 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All 115 vendors are scheduled to be in attendance for both days.
City officials anticipate a high attendance, and a police officer will be outside helping visitors park their vehicles. Bearing this in mind, Kane-Gibson said visitors should be prepared “to walk a bit.”
While many of the vendors take cash and credit cards for purchases, it is recommended that customers bring some extra cash.
Kane-Gibson said the American Legion Auxiliary will serve their “famous baked potatoes” and that the Rotary Club will serve food with them in the cafeteria.
“It’s always a fun time,” she said. “These folks put a lot of hard work and love into these handmade items and it shows. It’s definitely a great time to start your holiday shopping.”
