HOULTON, Maine — The Maine State Police Troop F barracks in Houlton responded to a number of calls for service during the period of Sept. 2-8, 2019, including the following.
Tuesday, Sept. 3
St. AGATHA — Trooper Desrosier was conducting traffic enforcement in St. Agatha. He observed a vehicle committing a traffic infraction and conducted a stop. During his investigation, Tr. Desrosier suspected the driver was impaired. After conducting field sobriety testing, the driver was arrested and transported to the Fort Kent Police Department for an Intoxilyzer test. Tr. Desrosier concluded the driver was impaired by drugs.
BLAINE — Tr. Casavant was notified by a property owner in Blaine that he had discovered items missing from a storage building he owned in Blaine. The owner had reported a theft in the spring of the year, but recently discovered more items missing than he had originally thought. The investigation is ongoing.
ISLAND FALLS — Tr. Saucier was in Island Falls when he recognized a local man drive past him. Tr. Saucer was aware the man had a felony warrant out for his arrest on a probation revocation charge. Tr. Saucier attempted to pull the man over, but he refused to stop and fled at a high rate of speed. After a brief time, the offender’s operation became dangerous and reckless, so Tr. Saucer terminated the pursuit. Two days later, the Island Falls man was arrested by Tr. Peirson in Stacyville. The man will face a variety of charges including driving to endanger and eluding.
Wednesday, Sept. 4
BLAINE — Sgt. Clark was conducting traffic enforcement in Blaine. He observed a vehicle not displaying a front registration plate coming off a side street. Sgt. Clark stopped to wait for the vehicle and observed it cutting through parking lots to avoid contact with him. Sgt. Clark stopped the vehicle and during his investigation discovered it was not registered, as well as the driver being suspended. Sgt. Clark issued the woman a criminal summons and had the vehicle towed from the roadway.
MAPLETON — Tr. Casavant responded to a vacant residence in Mapleton where a real estate agent discovered a house had been burglarized. It appeared that a pellet stove had been stolen from the house, and an outbuilding had also been broken into. The investigation is ongoing.
Thursday, Sept. 5
E PLANTATION — Tr. Kilcollins was attempting to serve a protective order in E Plantation. During that service, he recognized a female he knew had an active arrest warrant. Tr. Kilcollins arrested the woman without incident and transported her to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.
Friday, Sept. 6
ALLAGASH — Cpl. Hafford assisted the Maine Warden Service with an ATV crash that occurred on an ATV trail in Allagash. The victim had struck a tree and was ejected from the ATV. Cpl. Hafford, Warden Raymond, EMS and Fort Kent fire and rescue hiked in and located the male, then EMS transported him to Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent for head injury treatment.
Sunday, Sept. 8
HOULTON — Tr. Jared Sylvia and K9 Ziva were requested by the Houlton PD to track two suspects who had stolen items from Marden’s and fled on foot into the woods. K9 Ziva picked up the track next to Burger King and continued onto a nearby ATV trail to some train tracks, where Tr. Sylvia saw the two suspects duck off into the woods. Tr. Sylvia and K9 Ziva continued to the location where Tr. Sylvia had seen the suspects and cut through a small patch of woods to the back side of Houlton Regional Hospital. Again, Tr. Sylvia saw the two suspects walking and caught up to them. Both suspects were ordered to the ground and complied. Houlton PD took the two into custody.
