HOULTON, Maine — A chunk of ice on the roof of a vehicle dislodged and crashed into another motorist’s windshield on the interstate in Houlton, according to a release issued by the Maine State Police Troop F on Nov. 16.
Kristin Harmon, 30, of Bangor was driving a 2016 Mazda 3 behind Rose Rodriguez, 48, of Presque Isle, whose 2016 Jeep Compass had ice on the roof. As Harmon began passing, the ice dislodged from the roof of Rodriguez’s vehicle and flew into Harmon’s windshield.
Harmon then flagged down Rodriguez, and both pulled over to the side of the road before officers arrived on the scene.
State police issued Rodriguez with a “traffic summons for unsecure load on her vehicle,” according to the release, and York’s of Houlton towed Harmon’s vehicle.
No injuries occurred, and police reminded “all motorists to clear all snow and ice from their vehicles before driving on the public way.”
