PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Northern Light AR Gould Hospital in Presque Isle is offering the second of a series of Community Health Talks at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20, in the hospital’s conference center.
Wendy Boucher, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Northern Light Orthopedics in Presque Isle, will lead the talk. She will be discussing concerns people have with their shoulders, rotator cuffs, or biceps, and answering questions from participants on these or other areas of concerns they may have involving orthopedic conditions or issues.
“The idea of offering periodic informal talks within the community came from our providers themselves,” said Laura Turner, director of community outreach. “Some of our providers wanted a chance to address health topics in a way that is more informal, with open dialogue, than a traditional presentation. We were excited to try this idea out in June with our first presentation, featuring Jared Kohlbacher, DPM, our surgical podiatrist. We were thrilled with the results, both with the number of people who joined us and the great questions and dialogue generated.”
The Community Health Talk is free and open to the public. No preregistration is necessary. Simply come to the AR Gould Hospital in Presque Isle for the 6 p.m. talk. The talk takes place in the conference center, located on the second floor of the East Annex.
People are encouraged to come prepared to ask questions or share concerns.
“While the questions might change depending on a person’s age, level of physical activity, or existing medical conditions, Dr. Boucher will do her best to address them all,” said Turner. “She wants to help people in their personal efforts to be active and healthy.”
