Image    PRESQUE ISLE – Roberta J. Dingwall, 92, died peacefully early Wednesday morning August 15, 2007 at her residence. She was born in Clarence, NY. on July 27, 1915, the daughter of Herbert and Ada (Hutchinson) Rothenmeyer.
Roberta was educated in New York where she studied to be a medical technologist. She and Douglas Dingwall married and moved to Ohio, where she worked as a lab technician for five years. Then, they moved to Presque Isle where Doug worked with his Dad in the insurance business. Roberta began her life’s work doing what she truly loved which was caring for Homeless Animals. At that time, Presque Isle didn’t have an animal shelter, so Roberta cared for all the animals in her home. She helped people that could not afford to have their animals spayed, by paying the cost for them. She supported the ASPCA and other organizations that worked for the welfare of animals. In August 2002, she was presented a Certificate of Recognition for her tireless efforts on behalf on Animal Welfare.
She is survived by her twin brother Robert Rothenmeyer of Wilmington, Del., a niece Joan Hutton and her husband Bob of Fairfax, VA., two nephews; Jon Rothenmeyer of Clarence, NY., and William Rothenmeyer and his wife Barbara of Littleton, CO., a grand niece Miranda Hutton of Fairfax, VA., three grand nephews; Mark and Stephen Rothenmeyer of Littleton, CO., and Aaron Heist of Athen, Tenn., and a very special friend and caregiver Marie Ouellette of Presque Isle. Roberta was predeceased by her husband Douglas in 2003, a brother Herbert in 2002, and a nephew Carlton Heist.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held 11AM Wed., August 22, 2007 at Fairmount Cemetery Presque Isle with the Rev. George McLaughlin officiating.
