LIMESTONE, Maine — The streets of Limestone will be lined with holiday festivities during the town’s annual Holiday Light Parade on Sunday, Dec. 8.
In the past, Santa Claus would light a Christmas tree at Rotary Park on Main Street prior to the parade, but this year the tree lighting will take place during the parade, Limestone Chamber of Commerce President Michelle Albert said.
“Santa will jump off his sleigh, count to three with everyone and voila — the lights turn on,” Albert said. “Then he will hop back on his sleigh and continue through the parade.”
Line-up is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Limestone Community School, and floats will be judged at 5:30 p.m. The categories this year are: Best Theme, Best Business Entry, Best Lights and Most Creative.

The parade will commence at 6 p.m. as floats approach Main Street from the school on High Street.
Afterward, festivities will continue at the school and include crafts, music, snacks and an opportunity for kids to meet and share their wish lists with Santa Claus.
Albert said another new addition this year will be a “Mini Winnie’s Lunch Wagon,” located on Main Street before, during and after the parade, which will offer “something for everyone if they decide to have dinner or a snack.”
Limestone’s annual light parade is a collaboration between the Limestone Chamber of Commerce and the Limestone Recreation Department.
In addition to the parade, the Limestone-Caswell Historical Society will be host to a “Christmas Tea” 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the museum on 77 Access Highway.
