If the post-holiday blues have you down, why not join the Central Aroostook Soil and Water Conservation District and the staff of the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Ag Science Department on Saturday, Jan. 25, for a day of indoor gardening?
The session will take place at the Zillman Family Greenhouse on campus from 12 noon to 3 p.m.
Participants will start an herb garden to grow on a windowsill. Attendees should bring a clean container. The seed and growing medium will be provided.
Presenters will discuss how to use fresh herbs, which plant varieties do well in the area and which ones don’t, as well as soil health in vegetable and flower gardens, and will help the class plan their gardens for 2020. There will be many seed catalogs there to thumb through.
Light refreshments will be provided.
The registration fee is $25 registration to cover the refreshments and supplies. Register in advance by Friday, Jan. 4.
