first-ever Heritage Hot Air Balloon Festival

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Piscataquis Heritage Hot Air Balloon Festival has been a dream in the making for many years. The first annual Festival will be held from May 31 through June 2 at the Charles A. Chase Junior Memorial Field in Dover-Foxcroft.

This is a three-day hot air balloon festival and celebration of the unique rural heritage in Piscataquis County. It is jointly sponsored by the Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis Club and the Piscataquis Chamber of Commerce. In addition to hot air balloons, there will be food vendors (these are all nonprofit organizations), artisans, tradesmen, trades demonstrations, agricultural displays and sales.
There will be entertainment throughout the event along with balloon rides as well as tethered balloon rides for the less adventurous.  Balloon liftoffs are at 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. with Balloon Glows scheduled for Friday and Saturday evenings between 8 and 9 p.m.
Admission to the event will be “extremely affordable” at $1 per person.  The event will be held rain or shine. All balloon liftoffs are subject to appropriate weather conditions.
“Nothing could be more amazing to see then a balloon quietly slipping past overhead in all its color and glory!” said Sherry French, Festival committee member.
ZONE Radio Corp. is the corporate sponsor and is the exclusive broadcaster for the Festival. For more information, contact French at 564-2642, the chamber office at 564-7533 or go to www.piscataquischamber.com.
