HOULTON, Maine — Anticipated inclement weather has forced the postponement of some high school basketball games slated for Friday. Sleet and freezing rain was forecast for much of the state, prompting school officials to err on the side of caution.
The following is a listing of known cancellations and will be updated throughout the day.
The Houlton boys and girls versus Old Town has been postponed to Saturday. The girls game now tips off at Houlton Middle-High School at 6 p.m. Saturday followed by the boys at 7:30 p.m.
The Hodgdon girls game with Easton has been moved to Saturday at noon in Hodgdon, the varsity boys game with Easton tips off at 3:30 p.m.
The Presque Isle boys and girls versus Mount Desert Island have been postponed to Jan. 1. The girls game will be at 1 p.m. that day, while the boys will tip-off at 2:30 p.m.
The Caribou boys and girls games against Ellsworth slated for tonight were also cancelled. The girls were scheduled to begin at Caribou at 6 p.m.with the boys following at 7:30 p.m. These games have been moved to Wednesday, Jan. 1, with the girls starting at 2:30 p.m. and the boys following at 4 p.m.. The Caribou junior varsity games will not be rescheduled.
Other girls games tentatively still slated for Friday were: Central Aroostook at Madawaska, 5:30 p.m.; Fort Fairfield at Woodland, 2 p.m.
Boys games scheduled for Friday were: Central Aroostook at Madawaska, 7 p.m.; Fort Fairfield at Woodland, 12:30 p.m.
