PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Presque Isle Police Department has arrested a man who it said had previously evaded arrest after an alleged domestic violence incident.
On Thursday, Dec. 26, the Presque Isle Police, along with assistance from the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office and Caribou Police Department, arrested Travis Styles of Presque Isle.
According to a Facebook post from the Presque Isle Police Department, Styles has been charged with felony domestic violence assault, felony domestic violence stalking and tampering with a victim, also a felony charge, and his probation from a previous charge has been revoked.
Styles, 30, has been transferred to the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton.
The Presque Isle Police Department announced its initial search for Styles on Facebook on Dec. 16 after they said that Styles evaded arrest during a Dec. 8 domestic violence incident.
Police chief Laurie Kelley stated at the time that she believed Styles “avoided multiple attempts” that officers made to arrest him at the Carmichael Street residence where the alleged incident occurred. On Dec. 17, police added the charge of tampering with a victim due to Styles allegedly trying to contact the victim and change her statements to have charges against him dropped.
Styles previously was sentenced to 364 days in prison (305 suspended) and two years probation on a domestic violence assault charge in Oct. 2018.
