PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Wintergreen Arts Center recently received a $10,000 grant from the Onion Foundation. The gift is for Wintergreen to use in service of getting more Mainers access to the arts.
The Onion Foundation is a private philanthropic foundation based in Auburn, Maine, with a mission to encourage conservation and stewardship of the natural environment and to promote music and the arts in the state of Maine.
“We are extremely grateful and honored,” said Dottie Hutchins, Wintergreen’s executive director. “Receiving this much needed support feels like a wonderful acknowledgement of our staff, board, volunteers, mission, and programming.”
Hutchins added, “Last summer, in efforts to expand their grantmaking statewide, the Onion Foundation’s program officer learned about Wintergreen from a friend with ties to Aroostook County, and contacted us. We were thrilled and it ended up being a good fit.
“I love the story behind the entrepreneurs who founded the Onion Foundation, and am inspired by their ability to touch people all over the world, including communities here in northern Maine.”
