WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Susan Collins met recently with United Way leaders to discuss the work their organizations do on behalf of low-income individuals and families throughout Maine.
Sarah Ennis of United Way of Aroostook, along with Courtney Yeager of United Way of Kennebec Valley and Alan Smith of United Way of Mid-Maine visited with the senator in her Washington, D.C. office.
“United Way organizations in Maine strengthen communities and enhance the wellbeing of individuals and families throughout our state. They provide a lifeline to many Mainers by helping to connect them with resources and improving access to education, health care, and other services,” said Collins. “Courtney, Alan and Sarah are doing outstanding work for those in Kennebec, Somerset and Aroostook counties.”
United Way is engaged in nearly 1,800 communities across more than 40 countries and territories worldwide, including 10 organizations in Maine. The organization is focused on creating community-based and community-led solutions that strengthen the cornerstones for a good quality of life: education, financial stability and health.
