CARIBOU, Maine — With only one game left in the regular season, the Caribou boys basketball team has maintained its top billing in Class B North after Saturday’s game against Old Town.
Held at Old Town High School, the game resulted in a 20-point victory for the Vikings, 78-58. Individual results were not reported.
The Viking girls also went against Old Town on Saturday, and ultimately lost 52-42. As of Monday morning, the Viking girls are in 11th place in the Class B North region and also eying a playoff berth.
Looking ahead, both the girls and boys face off against Presque Isle later this week for the final game of the regular season. The girls play 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5 at Presque Isle High School, while the boys play 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, also at Presque Isle.
Caribou Athletic Director Evan Graves said in a weekly newsletter that as the regular season comes to a close, it provides time for teams to reflect on the growth of athletes, the growth of teams as a whole and what the athletes learned after being a part of something bigger than themselves.
“These lessons are great life lessons that will help them as they grow into adults,” Graves wrote.
