Electronics versus Rec Center
Presque Isle is now in the process of plans for erecting a new multi-million dollar rec center. In doing so are we keeping up with the times?
If we stop to think of the preference of all new electronic equipment now being used by all ages, ie: iPads, Kindles, iPhones, cell phones and on and on our younger generation is certainly into, is this new facility really necessary? They are texting, playing games, etc. on their personal handheld electronic equipment. It seems TV is even starting to take a backseat to all the new technology. With so much e-mailing, Facebooking, texting and whatever else may be coming down the road in the future, will people really utilize a new rec center?
Are all of us in Presque Isle aware of the fact that possibly the same citizens who now use our swimming pools, school gyms, ball fields, Gentile Hall, Mantle Lake Park, snowmobile trails, Nordic Heritage Center, bike path, Aroostook State Park, Riverside Park, the Forum, walking at the Mall and any other facilities we already have, who will be using the new Rec Center? Taxes are already high. Roads and streets are terrible, and in great need of repair. We tried to lower the standard of our outstanding Fire Dept. we now have by laying off employees.
By the way, are there any of you out there who have become an iPad; iPhone; Kindle Fire or computer widow or widower?
