AUGUSTA, Maine — Due to a projected winter storm that will impact much of the state Thursday into Friday, the Maine Principals’ Association has pushed back the start times for this Saturday’s state cheering championships.
“Due to the weather forecast for the next two days, and that a number of schools were planning on traveling to Augusta on Friday, the state cheering schedule has been revised to allow these schools to avoid travel on Friday and get to Augusta safely on Saturday,” said Mike Burnham, executive director for the MPA.
The Class B and C competitions will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, while the D and A events commence at 6 p.m. at the Augusta Civic Center.
Local squads competing for state titles include Central Aroostook (Class D), Houlton (Class C) and Presque Isle (Class B).
