CARIBOU, Maine — Custom Car Wash owner John Morrill said security cameras caught an individual at 3 a.m. Tuesday vandalizing and stealing roughly $1,500 worth of quarters from his Caribou business.
Now, he is working with the police and offering a $500 cash reward for anyone able to catch the individual responsible.
Morrill said the footage shows the man ripping out all four vaults and timers in the self-serve bays using crowbars and other tools.
“He ripped the boxes right out of the wall and was in the building for quite some time,” said Morrill.
Morrill said he is currently working with the police and that he plans to ask if they would distribute a screenshot of the camera footage so members of the public can help locate the man responsible for the theft.
“He was wearing heavy camouflage,” said Morrill. “He had a good disguise, so it’s hard to pick him out.”
As a result of the vandalism and theft, Morrill said he now has to replace the four timers in each of the self-serve bays, which will be closed for at least a week. The automatic drive through remains open.
