Potatoes — Mr. D. Messervey of Limestone was in Caribou Wednesday. He considers himself one of the fortunate ones this year as he sold all of his potatoes for 90 cents a barrel.
Grand ball— Soucia’s Orchestra of this town furnished music for a grand ball in Van Buren tonight, given under the auspices of the M.W. of A. Lodge.

Snow — It is reported that there are snow drifts twenty-five feet deep between Caribou and Presque Isle.
Influenza — It is said that the influenza epidemic has entered every home in Maysville. No family has escaped it.
75 Years Ago – March 1, 1945
Farm Bureau — Aroostook County reports a Farm Bureau membership of 2,646 persons. This is the largest membership ever reported by any Maine county at any time.
Washburn High School buys Army jeep — During an assembly program at the Washburn High School last Wednesday morning, a certificate was presented to the president of the senior class stating that the school had purchased a Jeep through its War Bond and Stamp Sales.
50 Years Ago – March 4, 1970
35th Winter Carnival — The 35th Annual Winter Carnival in Stockholm came to a climax when Diane Dufor and Michael Coville were crowned Queen and King at coronation ceremonies held at the Stockholm Legion Hall. The evening’s events followed a full day of outdoor skiing, snowshoes and barrel races.
Mark School Lunch Week — In observance of National School Lunch Week, the Washburn Senior Citizens Club were served a luncheon Thursday at the grade school cafeteria.
