ORONO, Maine — University Credit Union Board of Directors announced that Renee Ouellette, CPA, is the credit union’s new president and CEO, effective as of Friday, Dec. 13, 2019.
Ouellette is the first female president and CEO in the credit union’s 52-year history.
With this transition, Ouellette takes the reins of one of the largest credit unions in Maine by membership and asset size. She will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the credit union’s eight retail locations from Portland to Presque Isle, including three on-campus locations at the University of Maine in Orono, the University of Southern Maine in Gorham and the University of Maine at Presque Isle as well as the UCU Operations Center in Scarborough.

With this transition, we begin an exciting new chapter in UCU’s history,” said Gerald Hayman Jr., chairperson of the Board of Directors. “In addition, I wish to thank our executive vice president Deb White-Rideout for stepping in as interim president during the board’s extensive CEO search process.”
Ouellette is a certified public accountant and highly skilled finance professional with nearly 25 years of experience, including the last 10 years at University Credit Union, most recently as senior vice president of finance. In addition to the CPA designation, she holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Husson College and an associate degree in business management from Eastern Maine Technical College. She is also a graduate of the Association of Management Information in Financial Services Comprehensive Performance Measurement School.

Outside the office, Ouellette serves on the steering committee of the New England Financial Executives Council and volunteers on the boards of Special Olympics of Maine and the Bangor Chapter of Credit Unions. She is based out of University Credit Union Headquarters at 15 Main Street in Orono.
