HOULTON, Maine — Several Houlton and Presque Isle hockey players received accolades for their efforts on the ice this past season.
Honorees were announced over the weekend after plans to hold an awards ceremony were called off amid coronavirus concerns. Eight players between the two schools were honored with all-star recognition.
The Wildcats finished 12-5-1 in the regular season and were the No. 4 seed in the Class B North tournament. Presque Isle beat No. 5 Gardiner 4-3 in the quarterfinals and upset No. 1 Hampden Academy 4-1 in the semifinals before falling 6-2 to Old Town-Orono in the regional championship.
Houlton-Hodgdon-Southern Aroostook-Katahdin finished 4-14 on the season and did not make the playoffs.
Presque Isle coaches Carl Flynn and Darren Carlisle were also named co-coaches of the year for Class B North.
Named to the first-team all stars were Presque Isle’s Colby Carlisle and Houlton’s Jason Collett, while Presque Isle’s Gage Letourneau was named a second-team all star and Wildcat Connor Demerchant received third-team honors.
Presque Isle’s Quinn Demerchant was chosen for the first-team All-Rookie, while Houlton’s Jed Gilpatrick was named to the second-team All Rookie.
Receiving honorable mentions were Noah Reynolds of Houlton and Jonah Roy of Presque Isle.
Roy and Houlton’s Nate DeLucca were also named to the All Academic team.
According to Wildcat coach Flynn, Carter Jackson also received the Hobey Baker award for Presque Isle High School.
