PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — In order to comply with all Maine CDC social distancing guidelines, the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce has decided to postpone its strawberry shortcake sale from June 18 to Aug. 6.
Chamber director LaNiece Sirois said that the postponement will allow volunteers to better plan for keeping themselves and the public safe during the in-person aspects of the sale at the North Street Plaza parking lot in Presque Isle.
“The staging area will be wider and longer to allow for our assembly team to safely distance themselves apart,” Sirois said. “All volunteers will wear a mask, an apron and gloves that will be provided by the Chamber.”
She added that folks wishing to purchase strawberry shortcakes will have the option of staying in their cars while a volunteer delivers their orders. They can also fill out an order form to have shortcakes delivered to their business in Ashland, Caribou, Easton, Fort Fairfield, Presque Isle, Mapleton, Mars Hill or Washburn.
For people who would like to wait in line, the Chamber will mark spaces six feet apart to encourage social distancing.
The Chamber is accepting order forms until July 31 through email, in-person during office hours or with the drop-off box located to the left of their office front door. Order forms are available on the event Facebook page or by contacting the Chamber at 207-764-6561 or info@centralaroostoookchamber.com.
