PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Northern Maine Community College recently received official word that the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing has continued accreditation for the associate nursing program through 2027.
The process of receiving accreditation includes the completion of a self-review followed by a three-day site visit. ACEN evaluators visited the NMCC campus in October 2019. During the visit, the evaluators reviewed accreditation documents and interviewed students, faculty, community partners and administrators.
Following the visit, the evaluators completed a report and submitted a recommendation to the ACEN Board of Commissioners.
“For our current students and prospective students, continued accreditation is confirmation that the NMCC program meets or exceeds professional nursing standards and criteria that provides a high-quality education,” said Angela Buck, FNP-C, department chair for nursing and allied health.
ACEN is recognized as an accrediting body by the U.S. Department of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. It is also one of the largest specialized accrediting agencies for nursing programs throughout the United States, its territories, and internationally.
