Donations sought

The Bridgewater Recreation Department is seeking donations for a planned yard sale to benefit Colby Scott. Please drop off household items, toys, kids’ clothing and more (no adult clothing please) at the Bridgewater Community Building from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 31 or at the Bridgewater Town Office during regular business hours.
The Yard Sale will be held on Aug. 3 and 4 and on Aug. 9 and 10. Thank you for your support and please pass the word about this is a benefit event for Colby.

Lemonade stand

The ninth annual Cropley Family Alex’s Lemonade Stand will be set up on Aug. 10 at the corner of Main Street and IGA Road from 9 a.m. until the end of the parade, then from noon to 3 p.m. at Central Aroostook High School. It is hosted by Cathy and Jessica Cropley.
Ever since 2004, the Cropleys have hosted a lemonade stand to benefit the national charity, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, to raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer research. In 2000, Alexandra “Alex” Scott decided to host a lemonade stand at the age of 4 after being diagnosed with cancer. Four years later, the Scott family made Alex’s Lemonade Stand a national charity which has raised millions of dollars since 2004. Unfortunately, that same year cancer took Alex’s life and she never lived to see what her hard work and dedication had created. The Cropleys began hosting a stand in 2004, the only stand in Maine, because both mom and daughter believe in the work Alex started and want to live to see an end to this terrible form of cancer.
Thank you for your attention. If you have any questions, please call 429-8043 or visit Alex’s website: http://www.alexslemonade.org.
