HOULTON, Maine — The Houlton Rotary Club met Monday, June 23, via an online app, with Rotarian Max Lynds hosting Shawn Anderson, CEO of Houlton Regional Hospital (HRH).
Anderson was gracious enough to update the club on the COVID-19 situation in Houlton during a very busy time for him. As he was speaking to club members, there were many cars lined up in the hospital parking lot waiting to get tested for the virus. Most of the people getting tested had some connection to the EMS workers who recently tested positive for COVID-19 in Houlton.
Anderson informed the club that the Maine CDC and Dr. Nirav Shah have been a “tremendous resource” and support for HRH, and have maintained constant contact with Anderson. Club members commented how much they appreciated Anderson’s transparency and ability to communicate effectively with the public regarding the hospital’s response to the recent outbreak.
Anderson will be visiting with the club again to speak about HRH’s vision and mission as he has taken on the new role as CEO of the organization.
In other club news, Houlton Rotary’s annual meeting will be held virtually on Monday, June 29 th at 12:00 noon. The installation of officers, board members, and committee chairs will take place at this meeting as well as the presentation of awards, including the Community Spirit award and the Paul Harris Fellow awards.
