MARS HILL, Maine — The 18th annual Alton McQuade Mars Hill Open was held Aug. 15 and 16 at the Mars Hill Country Club, with Ralph Michaud of Presque Isle emerging as the overall winner.
More than 100 players turned out for the event, sponsored by the Mars Hill Rotary Club, during which they enjoyed warm weather, the beautiful scenery of the course and renewing or making new friends, despite social distancing.
The Rotary Club acknowledged the efforts of the country club staff in preparing the course and assisting with the scoring.
Club officials extended “heartfelt appreciation” to Harry Orser for his efforts to organize and provide assistance during the tournament.
Results from the tournament were as follows:
First division — First gross, Jamie Leavitt; second gross, Phil Pelletier; and third gross, Max Woodman. First net, Sam Townsend; second net, Tyler St. Pierre; and third net, Adam Metzler.
Second division — First gross, Jason Woodworth; second gross, Kyle Grooms; and third gross, Randy Gifford. First net, Brandon McLaughlin; second net, Michael Bruce; and third net, Ryan Libby.
Third division — First gross, Corey Day; second gross, Ron Morin; and third gross, Jeff Vance. First net, Dennis Anderson; second net, Jonah Hudson; and third net, Brett DeLong.
Seniors group one — First gross, Ken Dimick; second gross, Richard Flowers; third gross, Andy Vanadestine. First net, Tom Trafford; second net, George Leino; third net, Michael Fountaine.
Seniors group two — First gross, Jay Emerson; second gross, Mickey Lakeman; third gross, Ed Lucan. First net, Robby Robertson, second net, Romeo Nelson; third net, Richard Porter.
