To the editor:
In November of 2019, people of Caribou voted Doug Morrell to the [Caribou City] Council with the understanding that he was going to lower our taxes with the help of other councilors and nobody losing jobs or losing any service in the city.
He did just that. We got a 1 mill decrease, which has not happened in years.
One has to say, “How did he do it?” He did it because he was not afraid to talk. The [RSU 39] superintendent, Tim Doak, said in the paper that he was going to need at least 2 mils more for his budget. That’s when Doug spoke up and said, “That man needs to come in here. We have some questions for him which he needs to answer.”
Yes, Doug was upset and said, “We need to peel the bark off him and heads will roll.”
Folks that’s an old ancient saying, which worked in this case because for some reason all of a sudden Tim Doak was able to work with the same budget he had the year before. So for that, Doug should be getting a “Thank you,” but instead a few people who have been nothing but troublemakers all year have started a petition to get him off the council. That is their right to do that but they have to get over 1,100 signatures.
My question is, whose name is going on the petition? He has the right to see it.
