HOULTON, Maine — Reflexology organizations around the world are coming together to celebrate World Reflexology Week and help bring awareness for a healthier world. World Reflexology Week is the week of Sept. 21-27.
The practice of reflexology dates back to 2330 BCE, and is practiced by many cultures around the world. It is based on the premise that there are areas in the feet and hands that correspond to all areas of the body. By applying pressure to these areas using the thumb, finger and other hand techniques enable stress reduction and other physiological changes in the body. Reflexology can also help your body rid itself of metabolic waste and promote an overall feeling of wellness.
The practice of reflexology is a complementary therapy to aid in wellness and is not intended to treat or diagnose medical conditions. To find a reflexologist in your area please visit the Reflexology Association of America www.reflexology-usa.org or the Maine Council of Reflexology www.reflexologyofmaine.org.
