Saturday, Oct. 24, will be a popular evening for area residents who are looking for a terrific roast beef supper. The West Chapman Advent Christian Church will offer a take-out, drive-thru supper from 4:30-6 p.m. or until they run out.
The menu will consist of a hearty portion of roast beef with County potatoes, a surprise veggie and a heavenly homemade roll. To top off the dinner, diners will be provided homemade ice cream for dessert from a choice of various flavors.
The church is asking for a donation of $10 or more per meal. Everyone is invited.
Mapleton Daze with their many children’s activities was greatly missed this year, but planning and fundraising for Mapleton Daze 2021 is underway. Last week’s chicken stew supper drive-thru dinner was an important effort to prepare for next year’s festival. Organizers thank all who attended.

Workshop nearly full
This coming Saturday, Oct. 24, the Haystack Historical Society has arranged a fundraising stained-glass workshop.
The workshop will allow each participant to make three ornaments to treasure forever. The hard part, which is the cutting out and grinding of each glass piece, will be done for each participant. Participants will foil, solder and patina their collection of pieces to make the final ornaments.
Space is limited with only four openings as of Monday, which may change depending on the COVID-19 guidelines.
To register for the workshop, contact Glass with Class in Presque Isle for availability of space and the payment of the $45 registration fee. What a fun way to learn stained glass, and have a great time out with your friends, or meet new friends while supporting the Haystack Historical Museum.
Daze Committee says thanks
The Mapleton Daze Committee for Mapleton, Chapman and Castle Hill wants to let everyone know how thankful they are regarding the excellent turnout for their Oct. 17 drive-thru homemade chicken stew and homemade baked bean supper.
Lynelle Foster, chairwoman of the Mapleton Committee, explained this supper would not have been possible without the help of the Mapleton Daze volunteers and various business supporters. She also thanked the Mapleton Lions Club for providing the use of the Mapleton Lions Hall where the dinners were prepared and distributed and their club members who helped with the dinner.
The funds raised from the diners will be used to cover the costs of Mapleton Daze Events for June 2021.
