The State Road Advent Christian Church will conduct a drive-thru harvest benefit supper from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7.
The church is located at 1135 State Road, Mapleton. The traditional roast turkey dinner with all the fixings will be provided. The church will accept donations, all of which will benefit Raymond and Ardis Humprey of Washburn, who have had major medical expenditures.
Everyone is invited to donate, drive through and enjoy supper.

Successful event
If you were traveling on West Chapman Road on Saturday, Oct. 24, the West Chapman Advent Christian Church had an unexpected and extended traffic jam that occurred both north and south of the church as they held a drive-thru roast beef dinner.
The church thanked the many folks who drove thru the church’s parking lot and picked up meals. The dinner was delicious with some of the most heavenly fresh baked homemade rolls served with each dinner. Pastor Gardiner prepared six spectacular flavors of homemade ice cream. They were so good no one could decide which flavor was best.
Pastor Gardiner expressed appreciation for the community’s support shown to the church. The church is looking forward to next year’s harvest dinner, when hopefully everyone will be able to have dinner together at the church.

Ornament workshop
The Haystack Historical Society held a fundraising workshop on Oct. 24 at Glass with Class in Presque Isle, where each participant was able to assemble three stained-glass Christmas ornaments.
Everyone attending had a fun time as they learned how to fold the glass pieces, solder the pieces together and finish them by adding patina to the ornament.

The hard part, which was the cutting out and grinding of each glass piece, was done by Lisa Wark and her staff so participants could do the final assembly. Alice Shepherd, Haystack Historical Society president, thanked Lisa for assisting the Society with this fundraising project.
