Prostate health focus of upcoming session
PRESQUE ISLE — A Men’s Health Fair will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Northern Maine Regional Airport.
Prostate cancer often has no symptoms but if it is not caught until it has spread it is very difficult to treat successfully. One way to know about the health of the prostate is to be screened, but too often men who are uninsured or underinsured don’t have annual physicals. And, some men who do have good insurance simply don’t make the time to call their physician and arrange for an appointment.
The Aroostook Medical Center is making it easy for men to get important information about prostate cancer and other medical issues. On Oct. 5 at the Presque Isle airport, the Men’s Health Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fair will be open to all and there is no charge.
September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and the Maine Coalition to Fight Prostate Cancer (www.mcfpc.org) will be there offering light refreshments and will distribute informational material about Prostate Cancer.
