NMCC faculty and staff
honored for career milestones
PRESQUE ISLE — A collective 280 years of service to higher education in Aroostook County was recognized recently as Northern Maine Community College honored 15 employees who have reached milestones of service to the campus.

More than 100 employees and college retirees gathered for a luncheon to recognize faculty and staff members. President Timothy Crowley led the recognition event which featured touching and humorous tributes to the honorees.
“The devotion and dedication of our employees is extraordinary and important for us to celebrate. As this year’s employee recognition ceremony demonstrates, people who come to work here tend to stay,” said Crowley. “Recognizing the members of the NMCC family who have reached important milestones of service to the college is very important because it is the faculty and staff here at NMCC who impact the lives of our students each and every day.”
Two employees had the distinction of reaching 35 years of service. Dennis Albert of Presque Isle, a welding and metal fabrication instructor, and Betsy Harris of Presque Isle, registrar, were both recognized for achieving this significant accomplishment.
Marking a quarter century of service were Philip “Chuck” Brown of Caribou, business office manager; Robert Collins of Mars Hill, automotive collision repair instructor; and Alan St. Peter of Caribou, plumbing and heating instructor.
Twenty-year honors were presented to Shannon Cook of Ashland, financial aid counselor; Karen Gonya of Easton, associate director of development and college relations; Barry Ingraham of Washburn, director of physical plant and technology; and Janice McDougal of Caribou, nursing instructor.
Dwight Clayton of Mapleton, business technology department chair, and Tammy Putnam of Presque Isle, an accountant in the business office, were recognized for 15 years of service.
Tammy Nelson of Mapleton, director of counseling, was honored for 10 years.
Three employees were recognized for five years of service: Pam Buck of Mapleton, trade and technical occupations department chair; Gail Clark of Washburn, custodian; and Glenn Taggett of Fort Fairfield, security officer.
