Winds of change
To the editor:
It is the time of the year for this veteran to relocate. This relocation consists of changing my basement bedroom to my garage bedroom. I do this move to avoid the loud and harmful noise of the turbines in Mars Hill.
There are other changes because of the Mars Hill wind turbines. Partly the reason for the property tax increase is because of the revaluation of the wind farm.
Also a couple of my neighbors have relocated out of Mars Hill due to the harmful effects of the noisy turbines. Both of my neighbors’ homes have been for sale for over a year now. To say the least, things are not quiet since the wind farm construction.
Many neighbors are silent about the wind turbines. Many are no longer free to speak negative about the harmful affects of the wind turbines. The reason is these neighbors have settled with the wind farm owners and operators.
Many are in a land or noise easement contract with owner First Wind of Massachusetts. They talk positive about the wind turbines. If they talk negative about the turbines they are in violation of their contract. It is important about whom you ask about the project to get an honest and accurate answer.
Also one comes to wonder if the unfortunate situation Bigrock is in is partly due to the wind farm. I, along with many others, see a loss of rustic and scenic beauty of the mountain. Some skiers may be concerned with their safety. Snow and ice could be thrown from turning blades and cause injury. Liability First Wind is aware of.
What was supposed to be a benefit to Mars Hill may over time prove to be a huge disadvantage to tis community. Yes, the change of winds are upon us.
The community needs to know what’s going on with Maine’s First Wind Farm.
