Man on the run after Caribou woman shot him during alleged assault

CARIBOU, Maine — Police are looking for a man who may have a gunshot wound in his left shoulder they say was involved in an attempted assault Thursday.

A woman on Caribou Lake Road reportedly shot at an unknown man around noon when he attempted to assault her, Caribou Police Chief Michael Gahagan said Thursday evening.

The alleged assailant, described as a white man with longer, dark hair, mustache and facial scruff and wearing a blue Ford baseball cap, fled in a black, older model pickup truck.
