CARIBOU, Maine — Caribou Police are continuing to search for a man on the run who was allegedly involved in a reported assault on Jan. 7.

A woman on the Caribou Lake Road reportedly shot at the man at roughly noon when he attempted to assault her, according to Caribou Police Chief Michael Gahagan.

As of late morning on Jan. 11, the police were still searching for the man, who is described as white with longer, dark hair, a mustache and facial scruff. He was wearing a blue Ford baseball cap and fled in a black, older model pickup truck.

Laura Adams, administrative assistant for the Caribou Police Department, said that while the woman did fire at the alleged assailant, police are not able to confirm with 100 percent certainty if the shot missed. If the shot did connect, police say he would likely have a wound in his left shoulder.

Adams said the woman is safe, but she did not know the alleged assailant, or his name.

If anyone believes they have located the man, they are asked to call the Caribou Police Department at 207-493-3301, the Maine State Police at 207-532-5400, or leave an anonymous tip with Aroostook County Crimestoppers at 1-800-638-8477.
