Rep. Bernard to serve on Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry and Innovation, Development, Economic Advancement & Business committees

Rep. Sue Bernard, R-Caribou, has been appointed to the 130th Maine Legislature’s Joint Standing Committee on Innovation, Development, Economic Advancement and Business Committee, where she will serve as the ranking member. She will also serve on the Joint Standing Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry. Both committees are among the most sought after legislative assignments, because their work supports economic growth and can help Maine’s economy recover in the ultimate aftermath of coronavirus.

“The Maine economy, including Aroostook County’s natural resource economy, has been devastated by coronavirus and its impact on commerce and daily life,” said Rep. Bernard. “We will need to collaboratively develop policies that safely restore what has been lost over the last year and capitalize on new opportunities. I am humbled that I will be able to serve on two committees that are important to the communities I represent and the entire state of Maine.”

Rep. Bernard, a higher education Executive Assistant, was recently elected to represent House District 149, which includes the towns of Caribou, New Sweden and Westmanland.
