CARIBOU, Maine — The Presque Isle Wildcat girls basketball team defeated Caribou, 54-39, during a Feb. 9 game hosted at Caribou High School.
The Wildcats maintained a lead over Caribou throughout the game, ending the first quarter with a seven point lead at 15-8, and gaining an additional point lead by halftime, which ended with a score of 30-22.
By the end of the third quarter, Caribou started to catch up by the end of the quarter, bringing the Wildcats eight point lead down to six with a score of 40-34, but by the end of the game the Wildcats emerged with a 15 point lead.
For Presque Isle, Faith Sjoberg contributed 23 points to lead all players, while Rhylee Kinney scored 12 and Anna Jandreau added nine.
For the Vikings, Ashlyn Bouchard scored 15 points, Emily Collins had 12, and Selena Savage chipped in six.
“I thought Caribou played well. They have a few kids that shoot the ball well,” said PI coach Jeff Hudson. “I liked the way we responded when Caribou tied the game in the second half. We made some winning plays when we needed them.”
