WOODLAND, Maine — The town of Woodland’s Feb. 16 selectmen meeting was postponed to Tuesday, Feb. 23, due to inclement weather, and the agenda will include approving the warrant for the annual town meeting in March.
Municipal elections are set for Monday, March 15, and will take place at the town office on 843 Woodland Center Road from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The town meeting is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, in the Public Works Department, which shares a space with the town office.
Last year, the residents passed a $1,183,328 budget during Woodland’s annual town meeting, which was held on June 18, and outside the Public Works Department garage to comply with social distancing guidelines as the COVID-19 pandemic was escalating last year.
Among the big issues during last year’s town meeting was the town’s ambulance service fee to the city of Caribou, which increased to $114,800, or $100,850 more than the year before’s total of $13,950.
After holding a discussion with surrounding towns affected by this increase, Caribou City Council unanimously voted last September to keep 2021 EMS rates the same as 2020’s for surrounding communities.
The next selectmen meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, in the Public Works garage.
