Wintergreen to feature Presque Isle artist in March

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Wintergreen Arts Center is hosting the work of artist Alexandra Michaud during the month of March.  An Opening Reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 5, at Wintergreen’s new space at the Aroostook Centre Mall.

Michaud is a native of Presque Isle.  She is currently living and working in central Maine where she is a graduate student majoring in social work.

“With having a busy life ahead of me, art allows me to slow down,” said Alexandra.  “I let myself go while painting, allowing myself to express how I’m feeling and in the end I love all the pieces that I create.”

Alexandra Michaud works primarily with acrylic paints.  She enjoys painting portraits, landscapes and other non-themed pieces.  She loves to try new things and approaches when creating her artwork.

“To me, it doesn’t matter about how the paint is put on the canvas or if it is seen as ‘perfect’ or not,” Alexandra added.  “All that matters is I am able to portray something being said with the hope of bringing joy and wonder to the people who see my paintings.”

Alexandra Michaud’s artwork will be available for viewing and purchase for the entire month of March.

“We love Alexandra,” said Dottie Hutchins, Wintergreen’s executive director.  “She is creative, hardworking, and no stranger to Wintergreen.  We’ve always enjoyed having her on the staffing side of First Friday, but this time we get to celebrate her artwork and perspective as an artist.  She is amazing.”
