HOULTON, Maine — Maine Water Utilities Association (MWUA) has announced that Brian McGuire, superintendent of the Houlton Water Company, has been elected as president of the MWUA for a second term.
“This appointment is unprecedented,” said Bruce Berger of the Maine Water Utilities Association. “Mr. McGuire is the first president in recent history of MWUA to serve consecutive terms as president.”
McGuire has been on the board of directors for five years. During that time, he has been involved in helping MWUA during all phases of our planning initiatives.
He personally helped MWUA by negotiating a purchase of a building. Part of his vision was also developing a training center within the new building. Mr. McGuire assumed the challenge of raising funds for the training center through voluntary contributions. Within 12 months he raised over $55,000.
“Brian is a visionary that understands for any organization to survive it requires careful planning and leadership,” Berger said. “As a leader he is inspiring staff, the board, and our membership. He has been essential in re-energizing many of our members to become more active within MWUA. We look forward to the next several months of Brian’s second term as our president and leader of MWUA.”
