With Gov. Mills’ announcement regarding attendance at outdoor events after May, Mapleton Daze will occur June 22-27, although it could be slightly modified over previous years based on the rules and regulations set forth by the state of Maine for gatherings.
The committee is starting to plan events such as the fireworks, an outdoor craft/vendor fair, and others. As more information becomes available this column will share it.
The committee ideas for events people would like to see happen, given the need for attendees to be socially distanced during the event. Please feel free to pass along event suggestions to Lynelle Foster, Mapleton Daze president.
Easter Bunny time
The Mapleton Daze Committee using its special connection has learned the Easter Bunny will make a special appearance in Mapleton on Saturday, April 3, from 10 a.m. to noon.
The committee invites everyone, especially children, to come and meet Mr. Bunny as they host this drive-thru meet-and-greet fundraiser at the Mapleton Lions Hall at 1713 Main St.
The committee is suggesting a donation of $5 per child plus a donated nonperishable food item (like a box of macaroni and cheese or cereal) to help support our Community Cupboard located at the town office. The Easter Bunny will be on hand to meet the kids in their vehicles. A photographer will be there to take a picture of the children with Mr. Bunny, who will present special goodies.
There will only be 150 goodie bags available, so get there by 10 a.m. because when the treats are gone, they are gone. The goodies will be for kids only.
Laurie Boucher from the Mapleton Daze Committee said, “This will be a fun event for the kids in this difficult year. We want to put some smiles on their faces, so tell your family and friends. Help spread the word about the Easter Bunny meet-and-greet Visit.”
All donations will go towards Mapleton Daze 2021 and the food towards the Community Cupboard at the Mapleton Town Office. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Lynnelle Foster, Mapleton Daze president.
Spaghetti Dinner
Last week the announcement was made that the first event coming this spring to support Mapleton Daze is the upcoming drive-thru spaghetti dinner, which will be a Fundraiser. The Committee announced the dinner will be held at the Mapleton Lions Hall on Saturday, March 20, starting at 4:30 p.m., and will run until the food is gone or 7 p.m., whichever comes first.
The Committee will be accepting donations that will be used to fund this summer’s Mapleton Daze. There no set fee but the committee suggests a donation of $10 for the meal combo.
What’s on the menu? The meal consists of: spaghetti with the choice of meat sauce of just plain sauce with a piece of garlic bread and a homemade dessert. A choice of a bottle of water or a can of soda will be part of the meal.
The Mapleton Daze Committee reminds everyone they have the best cooks in The County. There is no need to get out of your vehicle as meals will be passed through your vehicle window. Drivers will enter the Mapleton Lions Hall driveway on the west side and circle around the back of the hall to collect dinners on the east side before exiting the driveway.
Also home delivery will be available for individuals who are shut-in or not able to attend, but would like to receive and enjoy homemade spaghetti dinner. For home delivery, please contact any member of the Mapleton Daze Committee.
